Senate probes conscript death case

Army insists heart failure was the cause

A Senate committee has launched an inquiry into the death of Pvt Phetcharat Kamlangying, despite the Royal Thai Army's assertion that he died of heart failure.

Noraset Prachyakorn, a senator and chairman of the Senate Committee on Political Development, Public Participation, Human Rights, Liberties and Consumer Protection, said the panel is gathering information and summoning relevant officials to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death.

Pvt Phetcharat, attached to the 2nd Artillery Regiment, King’s Guard, at Fort Phrom Yothee in Prachin Buri, died after reportedly losing consciousness while detained at the 12th Military Circle prison on Nov 11, 2025.
