Rising water forces hospital airlift

The Ministry of Public Health yesterday ordered the emergency evacuation of 90 patients from Hat Yai Hospital by air, as floodwaters threatened to overwhelm the facility.
The patients were transferred to major hospitals nearby to ensure continued treatment.
Dr Somrerk Jungsaman, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Public Health, said Hat Yai Hospital, as a ministry-run hospital, was working to transfer 90 critically and seriously ill patients by air throughout yesterday.
Oxygen tanks were also sent to the hospital to support the remaining patients over the next 24 hours, he said.
Fifty critically ill patients were transferred first, with 20 moved to Songkla nagarind Hospital and 10 each to Songkhla Hospital, Phatthalung Hospital and Pattani Hospital.
