Theon Design's Porsche 911s are next level
We've driven Porsche 911s restomodded by Theon Design before, but the company has never made one as powerful and light as this, which makes 421bhp and weighs just 1,150kg.
To recap, Theon is based in a discreet barn in north Oxfordshire, where it turns around half a dozen 964-generation 911s a year into cars with a more classic appearance, heavily made-over engines and strengthened and lightened chassis, with an attention to detail and a finish that, in my experience, is the equal of anyone in the game.
This one has carbon fibre body panels and a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine, resulting in a higher power-to-weight ratio than the 992-generation 911 GT3 RS. If you're concerned about restomodders thinning out the 964 pack, I wouldn't stress too much.
As Theon co-founder Adam Hawley explains, his team like to take a car that's in need of a comprehensive restoration but, because that would cost £100,000 and a finished standard car wouldn't be worth that much, wouldn't normally be given it. Because a Theon customer will be spending much more, such a car will be worth saving.
