Latest attacks driven by economic reason

Police say the latest wave of attacks in Thailand's southern border provinces was orchestrated by members of insurgent groups who sought to disrupt local economic activities.
At least 10 attacks were reported between Sunday and Monday across the region — one in Pattani, three in Yala and six in Narathiwat — with bombs planted at several ATM booths, CCTV cameras and power transformers shot at and suspicious objects and burning tyres placed around towns.
Pol Maj Gen Chumpol Saksureemongkol, commander of the Southern Border Provinces Investigation Division, said yesterday that forensic analysis is underway to identify the group responsible.
