Demand made to remove old casino

High-level talks are underway between Thailand and Cambodia over a former casino building in Cambodia's Thmor Da that encroaches on Thai territory opposite Tha Sen Village in Trat, prompting Thailand to formally demand its removal, a senior Thai military official said.

“As a principle, whoever built it must dismantle it,” Royal Thai Navy Commander-in-Chief Adm Pairote Fuangchan said. “If they refuse and ask us to remove it ourselves, we will seek reimbursement for the costs.”

He added that negotiations between senior officials of both countries are ongoing, while the navy continues operating strictly within tactical parameters to secure the border.
