Cabinet reshuffle 'by July'
Bangkok Post
|APRIL 21, 2025
A cabinet reshuffle is expected to take place before July, with political observers saying there are likely to be changes to the line-up of ministers in charge of economic affairs.
Despite the shake-up, they expected the Bhumjaithai Party to remain part of the ruling coalition until the end of the government's term, as the support from the second-largest party in the coalition is considered crucial to the stability of the administration.
Yutthaporn Issarachai, a political science lecturer at Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, told the Bangkok Post that a cabinet rejig is likely to take place some time between May and July, not long after the Paetongtarn Shinawatra administration marks its sixth month in office.
At that point, he said, the government must adjust its strategy, policy and personnel to improve its performance and maintain public support.
The government is focusing on fixing the country's economic problems, so the reshuffle is expected to bring about a new line-up of ministers in charge of economic affairs, Mr Yutthaporn said, noting the ministries overseeing economic affairs are controlled by Pheu Thai.
