BJT accuses Pheu Thai of running scared over casino bill

The Bhumjaithai Party has accused the Pheu Thai Party of lacking sincerity following its decision to withdraw a bill to legalise casinos from parliament.
Bhumjaithai spokeswoman Nan Boonthida Somchai called the move a political tactic to avoid a defeat in the House of Representatives, which would force the government to dissolve parliament or resign.
"We disagreed with the withdrawal," she said.
The Ubon Ratchathani MP made the statement following a party meeting in which members reaffirmed their intention to kill the bill.
The 69-MP Bhumjaithai Party is now part of the opposition after a falling-out over cabinet positions led to it quitting the coalition.
