2 Russian nationals held for grisly killing of compatriot

Police believe the murder and dismemberment of a Russian man in Pattaya was driven by a debt dispute and a failed ransom plot.
Two Russian men, Iaroslav Demidoy, 35, and Dmitrii Maskalev, 38, have been arrested in connection with the killing of Mikhail Emelianoy, 30, whose remains were found buried near a house in Chon Buri province.
Provincial Police Region 2 commander Lt Gen Chatchai Surrachetphong told a press briefing on Monday that investigators were confident the case against the two suspects was strong. “This is a serious and brutal crime, and the evidence clearly links the suspects to the murder,’ he said.
