South Ayrshire CEO Newall takes leave of absence
Crisis-hit South Ayrshire Council was left without its top boss this week as fresh chaos engulfed County Buildings.
The local authority confirmed that chief executive, Mike Newall, was to take a “leave of absence” owing to personal reasons.
His place will be taken by depute Lyndsay McRoberts - who herself is due to leave the council in August after being snapped up for another role.
He has been in post since November 2023, when he replaced long serving predecessor Eileen Howat.
His decision to step aside from the role leaves the council scrambling for more stability following a turbulent six weeks.
