HC Slaps Rs 1L Fine for PIL with False Claims

A bench of the Gujarat High Court, comprising Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal and Justice DN Ray, imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on a man who identified himself as a journalist for a Navsari-based weekly.

The man, Sunil Mittal, was penalised for filing a PIL, claiming that development rights were granted to Mahendra Brothers Exports for commercial construction on land situated within a residential zone.
