Actress-entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow has revisited one of the most debated Oscar races in recent memory, addressing the year her movie Shakespeare in Love triumphed over Saving Private Ryan for Best Picture; the year also saw her win Best Actress at the 71st Academy Awards for the same movie.

Appearing on Entertainment Weekly's The Awardist podcast, Paltrow, 53, reflected on the 1998-99 awards season and the upset that followed. The conversation carried a personal note, considering Saving Private Ryan was directed by her godfather, Steven Spielberg.
