PART of the former Express Gifts premises in Church could be repurposed as a private hire function hall.

The Ivy Garden (Blackburn) Ltd has applied to Hyndburn Council for planning permission for the conversion at Church Bridge Works, Mill Street.

A supporting statement submitted with the application from the Urban Future Planning Consultancy Ltd says: "The application site relates to the former Express Gifts premises belonging to Accrington-based 'Studio Retail Group' (known as Findel until 2019).

"Following the failure to secure an urgent £25million loan, the company went into administration.

"Described as one of the largest online retailers in the UK, Studio offered a range of products from clothing and footwear to homeware and Christmas ranges.

"The applicant is the proprietor of The Ivy Function venue located on Newton Street, Blackburn.
