Planning bid for Traveller site

A BACKDATED planning application for a Gypsy and Traveller family site on a 0.6 acre parcel of land in Oswaldtwistle has been submitted to Hyndburn Council.

The Roe Greave Road, Oswaldtwistle, site

Isaac Johnstone has asked for approval of the four-pitch camp situated to the South of Roe Greave Road with three day rooms.

It is currently occupied by four adults and six children.

A planning statement submitted with the application says: “Given that there is a significant shortage of pitch availability in the borough work to change the use of the land, including occupation, has already been carried out so the application for planning permission is therefore retrospective.

“Access to and from the site is taken via the existing access point onto Roe Greave Road, which provides access to the wider Oswaldtwistle area.
