DARAN Poppy was one of the oldest players in the RFU pyramid this season, reaching double-digit appearances for Old Gravesendians at the tender age of 61 but has decided to call time on his rugby career.
Full-back/winger Poppy played 11 times this season for the level 10 club in Counties 4 Kent after the first team endured numerous injuries.
Poppy joined the club in 1988 and played until 1995, mostly at full-back in the first team before opting to take a break from rugby to play football but returned to the oval ball game at the start of the century.
