Former Torquay and Stevenage striker Tim Sills left noisy neighbours Hamworthy United to take over the reins last October 2022, but just missed out on promotion in his first year after suffering defeat in the Southern Division One South play-off semi-final.

Sills led a strong recruitment drive this summer to match his vision for the Magpies – and the transformation is already clear.

“It wasn’t my squad when I came in and I always planned to make big changes in the summer,” Sills told The NLP.

“We brought in seven players in who have the right character, a winning mentality and can play at this level and the level above. If you get that recruitment right and the rest takes care of itself.
