SHERON'S SCREAMER TO RESCUE

OLDHAM boss Micky Mellon praised his side’s effort after the Latics twice came from behind to share the spoils with Altrincham.

Twice the visitors found the lead in the first half. Goals from Justin Amaluzor and Chris Conn-Clarke came either side of a James Norwood equaliser before a terrific Nathan Sheron strike salvaged a point for the Latics in the closing stages.

The game started in lively fashion and Oldham should have been in front early on with a saved Devarn Green strike falling to Hallam Hope, who blasted over from eight yards.

“We started really well, should have taken the chances we had, and it would have been a different game,” said Mellon.

“It was a better performance than on Tuesday at Fylde, we want to get better but the lads have earned great credit for the work they’ve put in.”
