Side by side with the projections of Digha's soaring popularity, the administration mapped out the various challenges that would also scale up proportionately. Most significant among these was waste management.

With tourist numbers increasing eight to tenfold, especially weekends, the civic administration knew it had to implement robust systems to maintain the cleanliness and environmental integrity of the coastal town. Their focus has been on ensuring that the increased footfall does not translate into increased pollution, safeguarding Digha's appeal sustainably.
