A key player in catalysing the Hong Kong art scene, Angelle Siyang-Le shares her vision on India and the joy of breaking rules
The world knows Angelle Siyang-Le as the director of Art Basel Hong Kong.
She lives and breathes art, champions emerging talent and builds bridges between first-time viewers and seasoned collectors. On her recent visit to India to deepen her understanding of the local scene, we caught up with her over coffee to talk about art, artists, culture and everything that falls in between.
"Art is such a universal language that everyone is curious about, no matter what kind of background they come from," Siyang-Le says as we settle in. For her, art is the perfect conversation starter. "I studied art history and immediately began working with galleries, artists, and collectors. I even managed private collections," she explains.
Her proudest skill set is curating exhibitions, connecting people, and bringing together different cultures and ways of thinking. "I think that builds the foundation for me to run an art fair."
