Traditional folk is what most people think of when they think of Irish music and the music of capital city Dublin, bashed out on a bodhran, a fiddle and a tin whistle, accompanied by an army of sean nós dancers stretching across the horizon.

It's not without cliché, though groups that leaned into their heritage like The Chieftains and The Dubliners did so with a sense of purpose, fusing the past with the present to create their own beautiful and often humorous works, imbued with a sense of authenticity.
