my Scotland

One of the most magical places I have had the opportunity to visit twice is the Isle of Jura. It's simply mind-blowing. There is more wildlife on the isle than humans; plus it has a single track road and only one hotel. I was lucky enough to stay at the main house in the Jura Distillery, and it was very typically Scottish, with the bathtub situated in the bedroom. I love everything about Jura. There are plenty of fabulous walking routes on the island. It has drawn in prime ministers, famous authors and celebrities who want to holiday under the radar. Once we spotted a stag on the beach, I still have that photo and it brings me great joy. In fact, Jura is my wallpaper on my laptop.

We are such nerds as a family- we check into Glasgow hotels every so often and behave like tourists for two days! When the kids were wee, they'd ask about the names of the streets. "Why does that say Saltmarket? Why is this called Candleriggs?" Usually, we're running to a meeting when we visit Glasgow. When we book into a hotel, we walk around with our heads up, looking at the buildings.
