A FAMILIAR CLASSIC RETURNS

I've used Apple Watches since 2019, sticking with them up to the Ultra 2 for their ease and integration. Recently, I got to try the 46mm Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic.

My very first smartwatch was the Apple Watch Series 5 back in 2019. Since then, I've stuck faithfully with Apple's lineup all the way to the current Ultra 2. It was easy, familiar, and everything just worked together without fuss. Then came the chance to try out the 46mm Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic. This arrived at just the right moment - not only because it marks the return of the fan-favourite rotating bezel, but also because it's the first Galaxy Watch approved for sleep apnoea detection in Singapore.

And that's personally relevant to me. I've been living with a mild case of sleep apnoea - not bad enough for CPAP machines, but enough to leave me groggy some mornings. I've tried other sleep trackers, from smart rings to fitness bands, but most of them simply gave me a graph or a sleep score that told me what I already knew: that I'd had a poor night. Two nights into wearing the Watch8 Classic, a prompt popped up asking if I'd like to enable sleep apnoea detection. I agreed, not expecting much. Over several nights, the watch tracked my blood oxygen and showed a pattern of mild oxygen dips eerily similar to my actual sleep test done at a clinic.
