Like many beach lovers around the globe, I had been itching to visit the Maldives for quite some time. Although I was not unfamiliar with the beauty of its turquoise waters, nothing could have prepared me for the dreamy escape the island nation had in store for me. My spectacular tryst with luxury began as soon as I landed in the capital city of Malé, where a private seaplane was waiting to whisk me away to The Westin Maldives Miriandhoo Resort. 

Located in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in Baa Atoll, the stunning property lies on a sandy white beach, enveloped by the vast Indian Ocean. With a variety of beach-facing and overwater villas, the resort is the ideal destination for couples, solo travellers, and families alike. My abode for the three-day retreat was a spacious Beach Villa Pool, which borrowed its curious design from a sea turtle. The villa featured a private terrace with an infinity pool and direct access to the beach for a morning walk, afternoon dip, or evening snorkelling session.
