Five-Ingredient Snacking Cake

1¾ cups soft-wheat self-rising flour (such as White Lily)
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
⅓ cup butter, melted and cooled to room temperature
2 tsp. vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract
Vanilla, Strawberry, or Chocolate Frosting (recipes at right)
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly coat an 8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray. Line with parchment paper, leaving a 1-inch overhang on all sides.
2. Whisk together flour and sugar in a large bowl. Add milk, butter, and vanilla; whisk until just combined.
