IT'S TIME TO EMBRACE FLORALS AND FRIVOLITY. LET YOUR BATHROOM HAVE ALL THE FUN FOR ONCE

- REBECCA HOOTON

BLOOMIN' BEAUTIFUL

PERSONALITY IS OFTEN RESERVED for spaces that are used to showing off. There is, of course, the living room. It sees visitors on a regular basis and much thought goes into the colour of the sofa, choice of cushions and curtains that will cast your home in just the right light. We deliberate endlessly over kitchen cabinetry and pendant lights that will make people say "wow" when they first walk in. Every other room in the house gets first dibs on fabulous rugs and artwork that speaks to the soul. Bathrooms are often forgotten when it comes to adding individuality. We don't think to bring in playful window shades. Or wallpaper that really captures your character. We'd never even consider a wonderful chair to sink into for a while. But why not? Now's the moment to put more personality into your bathroom design. Just like these do...

SWEET SPOT

Formerly a white and sterile main bathroom, designer Elizabeth Hay softened it with curves in all the right places. Window coverings with graceful gathers and scalloped edges echo the slipper chair's flowing folds. Both are made using baby blue Angelique' fabric from Nine Muses Textiles. The addition of musk pink paint on the vanity, with a similar shade lamp and gallery wall, forms a most delicious mix.

Deck the DOORS

The front door is our favourite place to make a festive first impression, and it doesn't have to involve a traditional wreath. From fragrant foliage and whimsical florals to ribbons, bells and pine cones, there are countless ways to deck your doorway in seasonal style. It might even be the perfect time to adorn your door with a fresh coat of paint. Here, we've matched Wattyl's most beautiful hues with decorative touches to ring in the holidays in style – and keep the cheer shining long after the season ends.
