Globally curated, locally created æquo's first group show Kothi at their Colaba gallery in Mumbai brings disparate worlds together in the quest of establishing a universal perspective on India's artisanal heritage

Setting oneself apart from the masses. Gratifying the need for uniqueness. Striking out in a new direction. Often when two worlds collide, magic ensues. For their first group show, æquo witnessed karigars from Mumbai collaborating with six internationally acclaimed designers in their gallery at Colaba, conceptualising Kothi. Founded by Tarini Jindal Handa in 2022, æquo is India's first collectible design gallery. Inventive, ambitious and democratic, Kothi is a series of experimental collaborations unveiled as a residential mise-en-scène that exhibits the works of Valériane Lazard, Chamar Studio, Wendy Andreu, Frédéric Imbert, Cédric Courtin and Florence Louisy.
