In just six months, interior designer Mia Karlsson was able to give a tired Georgian house a new lease of life

Hard to recognise from its former self, this Georgian-style cottage has been transformed from faded and forgotten to bright and beautiful in just six months.

Impressed by interior designer Mia Karlsson's talent for creating calm and cohesive spaces, the owners – a young professional couple – handed over the keys and moved out, entrusting Mia with the full transformation. In August 2023 Mia took her clients on a design journey to create a home that told their story – one that blends London living with the couple's European and North American heritage.

Mia's native Northern Swedish design influence manifests in simple, functional and natural solutions. 'I was delighted to take on this project, particularly as I'd only recently moved from Hampstead. With a walled garden at the front, the house has a cosy, private cottage feel – like being in the countryside, yet on London's doorstep.
