Coronation Street's Sue Cleaver on HRT, therapy and going sober in her 60s

At 61, Sue Cleaver is in the best shape she's ever been and feels amazing after having dropped an impressive 3st. But how did the star overhaul her life? After her milestone birthday last year, when Sue finally decided to take life by the horns and prioritise herself. ‘I’m 60 now. I brought my son up, he’s flown the nest and I very much see this as my time. It’s when you start to put yourself first a bit,’ she said at the time.
As well as ditching booze and focusing on her mental health, the actor also decided to start saying yes to things, starting with her stint in the I’m a Celebrity jungle back in 2022. At a time when many women are getting ready to wind down from their career, Sue’s had somewhat of a resurgence, becoming a regular on Loose Women, starring in the UK tour of Sister Act and most recently releasing her book, A Work In Progress. Here, Woman takes a look at the steps she’s taken to thrive in her 60s.
