Advancing ADHD Care through integrative approach

It is usually diagnosed in childhood and frequently lasts into adulthood. Children who experience ADHD may be difficult to concentrate, behave impulsively and without self-control, or be very active. Boys are two times more likely to be affected than girls.

For around 30-50 per cent of people with ADHD, symptoms persist through adolescence and into adulthood. According to estimations, eight per cent of children and adolescents worldwide suffer with ADHD. The most prevalent type is the inattentive one, which is followed by the mixed and hyperactive/impulsive types. Compared to girls, boys are about twice as likely to be diagnosed with ADHD.

ADHD symptoms persist into adolescence and adulthood in approximately 30 to 50 per cent of individuals. As per the Fifth Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM5), the core feature of ADHD is a collection of behaviours that hinder social status. Some of these social circumstances include excessive wobbling, talkativeness, finger play, and increased motor activity in inappropriate contexts, which can disrupt both personal and educational lives. The boys are more probable than girls to be suffering from attention deficit disorder, and its effects vary by age and gender.

In general, impulsivity, attention deficit, and hyperactivity are the hallmarks of ADHD. An individual who struggles with inattention may find it difficult to stay organized, focused, and on task. A person who is hyperactive may seem to move around a lot or fidget a lot.

People who are impulsive may act without thinking or have trouble controlling themselves. Individuals could act irresponsibly or lack the ability to give close attention to details when completing responsibilities like jobs, coursework, or other activities. To better understand these behavioural manifestations, it is essential to explore the neurological and biological underpinnings that shape the ADHD experience.
