Kitchen Garden
|September 2022
In this issue BBC Radio 2 gardening expert and Welsh Water's Pestsmart ambassador, Terry Walton, shares the natural methods that he relies on to combat weeds and pests
I discovered my love of gardening when I got my first allotment plot at 11 years old in the Rhondda Valley, south Wales. I'm still based in that same allotment to this day, and it's where I learned everything I know about organic gardening.
I've gained a lot of experience throughout the years which has helped me better understand the wider environment, appreciate the delicate ecosystem within my garden, and approach the challenge of managing pests.
Every season comes with its fair share of pests that may cause harm to your vegetables or flowers. I've learned that these pests must be approached with the conditions of each season in mind as it can influence your garde routine. There are a multitude of natural methods that you can use throughout the year, for any season, to keep those pests at bay.
