Tall verbenas are a worthwhile addition, says Ruth
SOME plants were born to have a starring role in our borders, while others were destined to be part of the supporting cast, not necessarily standing out, but there to help create a beautiful whole.
One such variety is Verbena bonariensis, a popular hardy perennial and this week's free seed.
Clusters of purple flowers bend and sway in the wind on tall willowy stems, lasting from midsummer right through to the autumn.
