Devinder, what inspired you to join politics?

During my college years, I was actively involved in student politics, championing student rights and participation. Following this, I was presented with an opportunity to transition into mainstream politics under the mentorship of the late Ex-Union Minister Sh. Harmohan Dhawan, marking my initial entry into the political sphere of Chandigarh. This role allowed me to work closely with both Shri Harmohan Dhawan and the late Ex-Prime Minister Sh. Chandra Shekhar.

Harpreet, what's your biggest motivation as Mayor?

The expectations of all Chandigarh citizens are the primary motivation and driving force behind my work. I am dedicated to meeting these aspirations and positioning Chandigarh as number one in all civic aspects—cleanliness, road quality, parking solutions, managing encroachments, and effective waste management. My mission is to elevate the city's overall quality of life and proudly represent Chandigarh on global platforms. This profound responsibility is what keeps me motivated every single day.
