JOE DEMPSIE and TAMARA LAWRANCE on a crime drama exploring Jamaica's underbelly

TROUBLE in paradise

A formidable detective quits Scotland Yard to return to her home of Jamaica in C4's Get Millie Black, a gritty thriller that's a world away from the breezy mysteries of Caribbean crime caper Death in Paradise!

Created by Booker Prize-winning novelist Marlon James, the five-part series, which begins with two episodes this week, follows brilliant, self-destructive investigator Millie-Jean Black (Time and Mr Loverman star Tamara Lawrance), who was sent to live with her relatives in London as a child but moves back to Jamaica's capital, Kingston, following her abusive mother's death.

While attempting to reconnect with her transgender sister, Hibiscus (model Chyna McQueen), Millie-Jean is working on missing-persons cases with her partner, Curtis (Britannia's Gershwyn Eustache Jnr), and is assigned to find a schoolgirl who disappeared recently.

imageBut when ambitious cop Luke Holborn (Showtrial's Joe Dempsie) shows up from Scotland Yard to collect a witness for a UK-based case, Millie-Jean fights to keep control of her investigation while past traumas, corruption and violence all threaten to blow her world apart.
