VICKY MCCLURE on how her hit thriller is back with a bang

Pressure POINT

TRIGGER POINT
NEW SUNDAY & MONDAY, 9PM, ITV1 DRAMA (BOX SET, ITVX)

Vicky McClure smiles and waves as she walks across a disused car park in London Docklands, while the blazing sun reflects off the River Thames behind her.

On a sweltering July afternoon, TV Times has been invited to visit the cast of Trigger Point, and the BAFTA-winning actor has just finished leading the team in a singalong to Al Green's 1971 hit Let's Stay Together, which was blaring out from a portable speaker.

It's nearly the end of a nine-month shoot, which has seen back-to-back filming for the third and fourth series of the acclaimed ITV1 bomb-disposal thriller, and Vicky's infectious energy has been the driving force throughout.

'It's been an absolute marathon,' shares the Nottingham-born star, 42, whose CV includes the This Is England franchise and BBC smash-hit police procedural Line of Duty. 'It's the longest shoot I've ever done and I'd be lying if I said I'm not shattered, because some days are really physical. The holiday is already booked for when we wrap, that's for sure!'

With Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio again serving as executive producer, the six-part third run kicks off this week and sees Vicky's explosives officer Lana Washington and her fellow expos – Danny (Eric Shango), Hass (Nabil Elouahabi) and new recruit Rich (SAS: Rogue Heroes' Mark Rowley) – called to help free a man from a black cab which is primed to blow up if he leaves it.

But it's just the start of a dangerous campaign by terrorist Steven Wyles (guest star Jason Flemyng, see panel, right), who is targeting specific individuals as part of a sinister vendetta. Working alongside newly promoted DCI Amar Batra (Maanuv Thiara) and DS Helen Morgan (Natalie Simpson), can Lana and her team work out who the next victim might be?
