Real-life couple HARRIET DYER and PATRICK BRAMMALL on the canine capers ahead as their popular romcom returns

- STEVEN PERKINS

A pawfect TALE

With flawed yet lovable characters, sharp writing and an adorable Border terrier in the title role, Australian romantic comedy Colin from Accounts proved a wordof-mouth hit with UK viewers when it arrived on BBC2 last year.

Written by and starring husband-and-wife team Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, the story centres around microbrewery owner Gordon and medical student Ashley, two strangers who found themselves embarking on a relationship after being brought together by a car accident and an injured stray pooch, who they decided to adopt.

And when TV Times joins Patrick, 48, and Harriet, 35, for a video interview about the much-anticipated, eight-part second run, it’s clear they’re just as devoted to dogs offscreen as Harriet holds up their own canine companion, rescue chihuahua-mix Walter, to the camera to say hello to us. Aw!

Once the greetings are complete, we quiz the pair on what lies ahead this time…

The first season ended with Gordon and Ashley deciding to break up and giving Colin from Accounts away – only to immediately regret both decisions! Where do we rejoin them?

PATRICK We pick up the story about two weeks later. We wanted to address the point where they said, ‘Let’s go get our dog back!’ We thought we’d be missing a trick if we skipped over that, as there’s a lot of fun to be had there.

As they go about trying to reclaim him, they’re wondering what life is without Colin. If they can’t get him back, are they still good as a couple? If Season 1 was, ‘Will they, won’t they?’ then Season 2 is, ‘Should they?’
