The summit between humanity and homo aqua got off to an inauspicious start in BBC1’s The War Between the Land and the Sea when the aquatic species delivered a dramatic demonstration of how human pollution has ruined their habitat.

Human ambassador Barclay Pierre-Dupont (Being Human’s Russell Tovey) is pushed even further out of his comfort zone this week as he prepares to meet homo-aqua representative Salt (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) on her own territory. But what awaits him beneath the waves?
