Living off the Grid
Surprisingly, there has been only one sequel since the original Tron brought then-cutting-edge CG technology to screens in 1982. But the film franchise has gathered a halo of fans who enjoyed the pulsing Daft Punk soundtrack and an updated version of the digital universe known as the Grid in Tron: Legacy. Now, 15 years after Legacy comes Tron: Ares, boasting even more advanced filmmaking techniques but unfortunately also a shallow storyline.
We're reintroduced to the concept that continues a rivalry between tech giants Encom - the company Jeff Bridges's Kevin Flynn ran - and Dillinger Systems. The latter is now overseen by Julian Dillinger, played by Evan Peters, grandson of David Warner's long-dead Ed, and a scheming computer chip off the old block.
