When Eve was invited to meet King Charles at the Prince's Trust Awards in May, she had a true pinch-me moment. "I was like, 'Damn, they're letting rappers into Buckingham Palace now?"" she quips. "How is this girl from the projects of Philadelphia meeting King Charles? What is my life?"

The rapper, actress and former talk show host, 45, has found herself asking that same question many times since releasing her double-platinum debut album in 1999. "Sometimes my life is like a sitcom," she says, clarifying it's a very "different" one from the eponymous series she led from 2003 to 2006. Now Eve has recounted it all in detail-including her less sitcom-ready struggles with substance abuse, anxiety and fertility-in her new memoir Who's That Girl? (out Sept. 17). "The book is about a woman who went through a lot," she says. "That's a lot of us. If I can help someone feel less alone, that's what I care about."
