Alec Baldwin Sues for 'Malicious' Prosecution

Nearly six months after Alec Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter case was dismissed, he filed a lawsuit against prosecutors and investigators on Jan. 9, accusing them of “malicious abuse of process, intentional spoliation of evidence, defamation and violation of the New Mexico Civil Rights Act.”

In the lawsuit, lawyers for the 66-year-old actor—who was holding a prop gun on the New Mexico set of the Western film Rust in 2021 when it discharged, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza—claim Baldwin was a “scapegoat.”
