ASHA PATIL, founder of Banjara Kasuti, speaks to Nida Khan on how her social enterprise is transforming lives by preserving Lambani embroidery and empowering women artisans

In Karnataka's rural Vijayapura, where tradition and heritage are deeply woven into daily life, Asha Patil recalls her connection to the Lambani settlements, where she spent much of her childhood admiring the vibrant Kasuti embroidery.

Witnessing the immense skill of the women there, she dreamed of creating an enterprise that could both celebrate this art form and empower the artisans. In 2017, she launched Banjara Kasuti, an initiative rooted in tradition but geared toward modern economic empowerment.
