My Dream Resolution
Champak
|January First 2025
It was already the first week of January I 2025, and ten-year-old Rohan hadn't decided on a resolution.
Everywhere he went at school, on the playground, and in the neighbourhood-people had been talking about the New Year resolutions they had decided on. Rohan wanted to make an important, meaningful resolution too, but he was confused. He wanted to make a resolution that would be good for him, and one that he could easily follow throughout the year.
That night, Rohan was preoccupied with this thought as he went to bed, and drifted into a strange dream after he fell asleep.
In the dream, Rohan was still undecided on what resolution to make in the new year. He went to Grandma for advice. She was sitting in her rocking chair, reading the newspaper.
"Grandma, you are the wisest person I know," Rohan said, "Please tell me what my new year resolution should be!".
"Rohan, you are a kind and sensible boy, but I have one suggestion. Start waking up early in the morning and read books with me. We could read Philosophy, History, and Science. I could introduce you to the works of great writers like Munshi Premchand, Shakespeare and Wordsworth. We can also read the morning newspaper together!
I believe this would be the best resolution it will expand your knowledge." for you Grandma said.Rohan was puzzled. He wasn't expecting Grandma to make such a suggestion, as he already had lots to do throughout the day.
"Grandma, getting up earlier than I already do, just to read heavy books, will be difficult for me! You know how I struggle to wake up early even for school.

The Park Came Alive
The Koi fish living in Sangam Pond of Munia Park had lately become very sad. No one came near their pond anymore, while earlier, the place used to be full of morning walkers. In the evenings, women and children would gather there. The park always remained lively with people’s chatter and laughter.

GRAVE MISTAKES
“Here’s your new school,” Dad said as he pulled over at the gate of Silver Pines School. Courtesy of his dad’s frequent job transfers, Omi is always the new student. This was his fourth school in the last eight years. Standing at the gates of his new school, clutching his bag, he tried not to look nervous. His family had just moved to the town a week ago, and everything still smelled new—new books, new uniform, new trouble.
