MEGAN STALTER MEETING HER moment

Promoting her star turn in Too Much, the hit Netflix romantic comedy series from Girls creator Lena Dunham, Megan Stalter has gone full tilt with her head-turning red carpet choices and tongue-in-cheek soundbites spruiking her new starlet status.

“I acted like a complete brat on the carpet because the show is so incredible, I have a huge attitude now,” she captioned photos of herself wearing a tartan gown with ankle socks at the show’s London premiere on June 23. “My personality has changed, and it’s all gone to my head. Oh well! Too late to do anything about it.”

She continued the act on July 15, starting her day in a robe and curlers for a riotous appearance on US Today – “I’m so glad we could make this work,” she told the bewildered hosts. “I know you have been wanting me on the show.” That was followed by a visit to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in a calf-length blonde wig and a strapless top with her face and the words “Meg Stalter: The Prettiest Girl in America”.

“So many people kept saying it,” the 34-year-old actress said, flirtatiously winking at the crowd. “I thought it was probably time to put it on a damn shirt!”

In reality, the brash slogan on Stalter’s statement top is the name of her last stand-up comedy tour, and the talk-show exchange perfectly encapsulates the cringeworthy humour she has mined so skillfully for years.

image“To be like, ‘I should win, I’m the best actor, I’m the best politician or the prettiest girl in the room,’ is So funny to me, because it's so overly confident, but also there's something really vulnerable about those kinds of characters," Stalter told Time magazine in July.
