Dennis Quaid walks with Us down memory lane, reminiscing about some of his most memorable moments

I'm Just Getting Started

It’s been more than four decades since Dennis Quaid scored his first major role in Breaking Away before going on to star in classics like The Right Stuff, Any Given Sunday and The Parent Trap. It’s been a wild ride, but he feels the best is still yet to come. “The older I get, the more passion I have for [acting],” Quaid, whose new movie, The Long Game — which follows a group of Mexican American high schoolers who overcome barriers to win the Texas state golf championship — is currently in theaters. “I’m not trying to get anywhere or be somebody because of it. I just love it.”

Fresh off his milestone 70th birthday, the father of three (Jack, 32, with ex Meg Ryan and 16-year-old twins Zoe and Thomas with former wife Kimberly Quaid) says he’s fully leaning into this new chapter. “Life really gets easier as [it goes] by. You enjoy it more because you’ve been through things. You say, ‘Well, this is coming, and it’s going to pass,’” he explains. “And the good times are just great.” Married to Laura Savoie, 31, since 2020, “[My life] has never been happier,” adds Quaid. “I have a beautiful wife… [and] I really appreciate every day. I feel so lucky.”
