Karla Mosley (ex-Maya, B&B et al) has just wrapped a successful run in The Echo Theater Company’s How It’s Gon’ Be, an experience she will always treasure. “The audience was so responsive,” she enthuses. “It’s a coming-of-age tale. It was beautifully written, and we had such an incredible cast. They’re all powerhouses. I loved it and I loved the role.”

The fact that the play was a multigenerational tale felt reminiscent of Mosley’s daytime days. “As artists, we are so lucky when we get to play those relationships,” she observes. “That is certainly the case on soaps. Some of the people who I learned from were 30, 40, even 50 years my senior. I value those relationships so much. I cherish the people who came before me and taught me about professionalism and kindness and how to lead a cast, and all of those wonderful things.”

Mosley’s love of entertainment dates back to her childhood. “I was always performing in my bedroom growing up,” she chuckles. “My mom and dad loved the arts. Since I grew up outside of New York, I was going to see Broadway shows from when I was probably 5 years old. I truly love theater. I love that connection. I love the collaboration. It’s definitely where my heart is.”
