Leading ladies of pop had plenty to sing and dance about at the MTV Video Music Awards 2025
The glitzy MTV Video Music Awards was as star-studded as ever, as it celebrated some of the biggest names on the planet at a spectacular three-hour show at the UBS arena in Elmont, New York. And yet again, it was all about girl power, shining the spotlight on female artists.
Gaga, the most nominated artist of the awards with a whopping 12 nods, took home four gongs including Artist Of The Year, beating Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny and Beyoncé - none of whom, sadly, attended.
The superstar dedicated her first win of the night to the audience and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, before dashing off to perform the very last show of her Mayhem tour at New York's Madison Square Garden.
Making one of her now expected out-there fashion statements, Gaga was wearing a baroque black gown as she said, "I cannot begin to tell you what this means to me. I hope as you navigate through the mayhem of daily life, you are reminded of the importance of the art of your life, that you can count on yourself and your simple skills to keep you whole."
Female artists stole the show at the event, whose host - for the most part off-screen - was LL Cool J. Although Bruno Mars won for his collab with two women - his duet with Lady Gaga, Die With A Smile, which won Best Collaboration, and Cette histoire est tirée de l'édition September 22, 2025 de OK!
