When country superstar Keith Urban rephrased a line from “The Fighter” — a ballad inspired by his early romance with Nicole Kidman — and inserted his 25-year-old guitarist Maggie Baugh’s name instead, the onstage moment came across as playful rather than pointed.

But just three days later, amid news that the singer and the Oscar-winning actress had split after 19 years of marriage, the change took on a different resonance. Now, while Keith, 57, is rewriting old lyrics, Nicole, 58, is writing a new chapter of her life.

FAIRYTALE BEGINNING

Their union - as romantic as any love song - had captivated fans from the start. Nicole and Keith, both Australian, wed in Sydney in 2006 at a candlelit ceremony that felt like a modern fairytale. Over the years, they built a home in Nashville, welcomed daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret and became one of Hollywood's most enduring - and demonstrative - power couples. “I would not be able to do anything without him,” Nicole told Hello! in 2014. “It’s the two of us - and it really is an us.”
