Our new columnist Mariella Frostrup on how she survived a tough start in life and why she's fighting for women in midlife

For the broadcaster Mariella Frostrup, who is taking on a new role as HELLO!'s Second Act columnist, reaching her 40s was "the point at which my life pivoted in a different direction, one that I'd longed for – to a place of security, where I felt more able to take risks".

Up until then, life had been turbulent for Norwegian-born Mariella, now 62. She moved to Ireland with her family when she was six, but after the death of her father, Peter, when he was just 44, she moved to London at the age of 16.
