Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear, tackles his toughest role yet – portraying the rock icon Bruce Springsteen

He has won critical acclaim for his portrayal of chef Carmy, bringing order to his late brother's chaotic sandwich shop in the psychological drama The Bear. Now, Jeremy Allen White has temporarily pivoted away from the kitchen and into the world of music, where he is shortly to portray one of the icons of rock music, Bruce Springsteen.

In Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, the 34-year-old transforms himself into the singer otherwise known as “The Boss”.

He had to learn to sing and play guitar like New Jersey-born Bruce – and even had to perform some of the songs from the hit album Nebraska to the man himself.

Here, the actor talks about what steps he took to immerse himself in the role, what happened when he met the singer for the first time and whether he'd prefer to work in the restaurant industry or the music business.
