DOES SPIRITUALITY HAVE ANY ROLE IN HEALING?

Life often resembles a tu-multuous journey. Amidst the constant hustle and the relentless lists of tasks, we frequently overlook the importance of maintaining our mental well-being. It seems we are perpetually in a state of activity, causing tranquility to elude us and rendering our challenges more daunting. However, there is a serene refuge available to us in this fast-paced existence - it is known as spirituality. In recent years, there has been a growing focus among healthcare providers, both religious and secular, on the significance of spirituality in the healing process. Over the last hundred years, technological progress has shifted the emphasis in medicine from a compassionate, service-driven approach to one that is predominantly focused on technology and cures. While these advancements have resulted in remarkable improvements in medical practice and have enabled us to extend life, recent decades have seen physicians striving to restore a more holistic approach to care. They are increasingly acknowledging that, historically, spirituality has been intertwined with health care. This spiritual or compassionate care aims to address the complete individual—encompassing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual dimensions.

Numerous scientific studies provide objective evidence of its benefits, including decreased stress levels, pain relief, improved surgical recovery, and lower rates of depression and anxiety, as well as support in preventing and recovering from substance abuse. The depth of one's faith play a significant role in these positive outcomes.
