An interaction with Gaurav Kumar, Head of Supply Chain and Manufacturing and Director on the Board at Euler Motors
-
Shortage of semiconductors and other critical components has been a cause of concern for electric commercial vehicles manufacturers, especially in the backdrop of the current uncertainty. However, for OEMs like Euler Motors, prioritising localisation has insulated the company from sudden disruptions. In a recent interview Gaurav Kumar, Head of Supply Chain and Manufacturing and Director on the Board at Euler Motors emphasised on the company's focus on shifting towards design-led resilience and reducing dependence on single components or suppliers. Edited excerpts.
Euler Motors operates in a fast-evolving EV ecosystem. How has the supply chain strategy had to adapt to balance cost efficiency, localisation, and speed to market?
The EV ecosystem requires a very different supply chain approach compared to ICE vehicles. At Euler Motors, we built our supply chain with localisation and in-house capability at the core from the very beginning. We work closely with suppliers early in the R&D phase, co-developing components that are designed specifically for Indian operating conditions while meeting high quality standards.
This early involvement helps us control costs, shorten development cycles, and move faster to market. At the same time, we have developed key systems such as battery thermal management, electronics, and chassis engineering in-house. This combination allows us to stay agile while maintaining cost efficiency and scale readiness.
With geopolitical tensions disrupting global trade lanes, critical minerals sourcing, and technology supply chains, how is Euler Motors assessing risk and reconfiguring its supply chain strategy to safeguard continuity and long-term growth?
