Eastern Cape businesses make global strides at Canadian trade exhibition

Six Eastern Cape companies, supported by the DTIC and ECDC, attended Grocery Innovations Canada to expand into international markets. The trade mission provides crucial funding and structured preparation covering compliance, packaging, and logistics for emerging exporters.

The Eastern Cape’s entrepreneurial spirit is drawing international attention, with six local companies having taken part in Grocery Innovations Canada (GIC), a leading North American grocery and food exhibition held at the Toronto Congress Centre in October.

The event provides a platform for food and beverage companies to engage with buyers, distributors, and industry professionals from around the world.

Funded by the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) through the Sector Specific Assistance Fund, in partnership with the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC), the trade mission supports emerging exporters and small businesses to explore international markets.

Represented at GIC were Coti Chocolates, Spice Kit, Rocha Natural Products, Tio Ze, all from Gqeberha, and Lathitha Wines and Nodayimani Investments from Macleantown.

The companies sought to diversify their markets, increase brand visibility, and establish relationships with international buyers.
